I have posted this before
THIS NATION IS AT WAR, BUT THIS WAR IS LIKE NO OTHER BEFORE IT! IN THIS WAR, THE ENEMY HIDES AMONG US. IT PLAQUES ON OUR WEAKNESSES. IT LIVES IN HOMES AND THREATENS TO ROB US OF OUR LOVED ONES.THERE IS NO WAY TO TELL WHO THE ENEMY IS. IT MAY BE OUR NEIGHBOR OR THE MAILMAN, OR OUR CHILD'S TEACHER OR EVEN OUR CHILD.
WHAT WAR YOU ASK, THE WAR ON DRUGS!
I STAND HERE TODAY NOT AS YOUR ENEMY BUT AS ONE OF YOUR FALLEN SOLDERS, ONE OF YOUR LEFT BEHIND, AND I AM SCREAMING OUT FOR YOU: "DO NOT TURN YOUR BACK ON ME AMERICA. I AM NOT THE ENEMY. I AM ONE OF YOU. I AM YOUR BEST FRIEND, YOUR BROTHER, YOUR COUSIN, YOUR PARENT, YOUR SISTER, YOUR CHILD, OR EVEN YOU."
AMERICA I IMPLORE YOU, DO NOT LEAVE US ON THIS BATTLEFIELD BROKEN, AND BLOODY. DONT LEAVE US BEHIND. BRING THIS FALLEN SOLDER HOME AGAIN!"
THE FALLEN SOLDER
A war wages all around,
Death and destruction are everywhere,
I want to hide, but i am duty bound,
To carry the burden i bare,
I have fallen, but the battle wages on,
My body is broken and my spirit so worn,
My fellow soldiers are now all gone,
As I lay here in this Battlefield wishing I had never been born,
Those who have never been here do not understand our plight,
Most people would say my battle was already lost,
But for my life i still fight, 'cause if I lose this war, I'll never survive the cost,
Some of you may see me as weak or even useless,
Some may think i am of no concern to you,
To you I'm only a nuisance,
But if it were you, what then would you have me do?
I am broken and alone,
The forgotten solder, one of your left behind,
I'll never make it home,
Left here in this battle for my mind,
Hoping to be seen among all the casualties,
To you i may only be a needle using junkie,
But I'm down here on my knees,
Hoping to be set free,
I am a fallen solder in a war i did not create,
You say you may help me,
But by then will it be too late,
If I am captured I will never be freed,
I call out for you with no reply,
You do not lend me your hand,
Instead you just watch as i die!
